Most dives off the coast of Playa del Carmen are of dives in drifts. They are made from a boat which follows on the surface until the end. The dive sites are very close to the coast, at a maximum of 30 min by boat. The depths of the different sites vary between 6m (19ft) and 40m (131ft), which is in fact an ideal place for all, from beginners to experienced divers. The temperature of the water does not drop below 26°C (79°F) with an annual average of 29°C (86°F), providing pleasant dives throughout the year. The visibility is excellent, between 15 to 30m (49ft to 98ft).

The richness of the seabed of Playa del Carmen is also created by the diversity of these reefs that we classify in 3 categories:

• The finger reefs
• The garden reefs
• The wall reefs
